Industrial Relations in simple terms note to the relation between the management and the workers belonging from an industry that is comprised of industry and relations. It is in terms of their demands, and wants and what the company wants and needs. This terminology explains the relation between both the parties and how they maintain a healthy yet working relation not only for the betterment but also for the peace of the industry.
There are a few Salient characteristics of the Industrial Relations that need to be highlighted for a better understanding of the term and how they work.

- The presence of two groups
There are basically two groups that are involved in this process. One is the management side and the others are the worker’s side playing a major role in this relation. There are at times that the government also plays a major role in this relation, making sure that everything between the two goes according to the set rules and regulations.
- This is an active communicative process
Industrial relations between the two happen based on active communication. Communication takes place between various individuals of the two groups. From the worker’s side, it can either be the common worker, a union leader, or the entire group as one. While from the management’s side, usually a supervisor is involved in the communication.
- Organizational environment matters a lot
If the company or the organization that the workers are working for provides an excellent environment to work in without any burden or pressure, then everything goes smoothly. Problems and disputes only arise when there are problems at the workplace for the workers which are not being solved by the company at any cost.
- Industrial Relations have a strong effect
Industrial Relations obviously have a very strong relationship. They are the indicator for a company on how strict or lenient their rules would be for the workers of the company and if they should be given any importance or not. It is also the driving force for the workers to see if they are motivated enough to work and with the amount of dedication. The company’s growth and image are also dependent on this particular relationship as well.

There are certain problems when it comes to Industrial Relations. There are times when the relationship is influenced by external factors as well and can cause unwanted troubles and problems for the people and the parties involved.
